This name derives from the Hebrew “Baṯ-šeḇa‘ > Be'êr sheba‛ > Barsheba”, meaning “daughter of the oath”. According to the Hebrew Bible, was the wife of Uriah the Hittite and later of David, king of the United Kingdom of Israel and Judah.
