EURúS ṓPS > EURṓPē

This name derives from the Ancient Greek name “Eurṓpē (Εὐρώπη)”, composed of two elements: “eurús ‎(εὐρύς)” (wide, broad, spacious) plus “ṓps ‎(ὤψ)” (to the eye, in the face, eye). In turn the name means “the wide eyes, broad face”. In Greek mythology Europa was the mother of King Minos of Crete, a woman with Phoenician origin of high lineage, and for whom the continent Europe was named.
