This name derives from the Hebrew “Lemû'êl / Lemô'êl”, meaning “devoted to God”. Lemuel is mentioned in the book of proverbs, chapter 31. This is the second eldest of Lehi's sons and the brother of Laman, Sam, Nephi, Jacob and Joseph. The name is related to Lael found in Numbers 3:24 meaning a man consecrated "to God". In etymological form the name Lemuel is kindred with Jamuel (Genesis 46:10) and Namuel (1 Chronicles 4:24).
