This name derives from the Greek “Néda (Νέδα) Néde (Νέδη). Neda was the Okeanid who was the Potameides (a Naiad of rivers and streams) Nymph of the river Neda near Mount Lykaios (Lycaeus) in Arkadia (southern Greece). Along with her sisters Theisoa and Hagno she nursed the infant Zeus after his birth.
