Origen M

greek
óRNUMI / óROS GEN- ‎/ GéNOS > ŌRIGéNēS
russian / serbian (Ориген)

This name derives from the Ancient Greek “Ōrigénēs (Ωριγένης)”, composed of two elements: “órnumi (ὄρνυμι) óros (ὄρος)” (a mountain, hill, to set upon, to raise) plus “gen- ‎(γεν-) génos (γένος)” (to be born, offspring, descendant). In turn the name means “originating in the mountains”. Origen Adamantius was a scholar and early Christian theologian who was born and spent the first half of his career in Alexandria. He was a prolific writer in multiple branches of theology, including textual criticism, biblical exegesis and hermeneutics, philosophical theology, preaching, and spirituality.
